Estlandse wanten zijn prachtig, maar Letse wanten mogen er ook zijn. Daar kom ik steeds meer achter en nu na het verschijnen van Latvieša Cimdi van Maruta Grasmane ben ik helemaal om. Wat een práchtboek, tjokvol foto’s van wanten met daarnaast het volledige patroon. Gelukkig staat achterin het boek een Engelse samenvatting over de geschiedenis, symbolen en de culturele en breitechnische verschillen tussen de  regio’s. Want ik weet niet hoe jouw Lets is, maar ik vind Ests al een drama en Lets helemaal onbegrijpelijk. Het is echter geen enkel beletsel dit boek te willen hebben, door de meer dan 400 pagina’s te bladeren en er wanten uit te breien. Als een kind zo blij ben ik ermee. Kijk maar even naar deze video en jij wil ‘m ook. En weet je wat nu zo leuk is, binnenkort ligt het boek ook bij de Afstap! Dank je Monika, voor de tip!

Estonian mittens are beautiful, but the Latvian mittens are certainly worth appreciation too. That is what find out more and more, especially after the publication of Latvieša Cimdi written by Maruta Grasmane. What a wonderful book, filled to the rim with photos of mittens with the complete pattern next to it. Fortunately a English summary about the history, symbolism and different cultural and differences in techniques related to knitting between regions is added to the book. I don’t know if you speak Latvian fluently, but I think Estonian is dramatically difficult and Latvian even worse. So this is not a reason not to want this book, to browse throught the 400-plus pages and knit mittens from it. As a child so happy I’m with it. Look at this video and you want this book too. And fortunately we will soon have it at the Afstap! Thank you Monika, for the hint!
